Our delicious hard candy jewels contain several organic plant essences with a cooling and hormone-balancing effect:
~ White peony contains compounds called phytoestrogens, which are thought to have estrogen-like effects in the body. It may help offset some symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and anxiety.
~ Cucumber, packed with magnesium and potassium, is known to lower body temperature.
~ Peppermint, with high menthol content, creates a refreshing, cooling sensation. Menthol activates the same receptor on nerve endings that's involved in sensing cold.
~ Xylitol (our natural, plant-based sweetener) also has a cooling effect by actually chilling your mouth. It is a moisture soluble endothermic reactant, which means when it touches moisture in your mouth it dissolves, a process which drains the heat from the immediate area. This is called an endothermic reaction.
